Town Hall Meeting Notes

Members of the community including NAG attended the County Executive’s Town Hall meeting on July 11. At least 4 people spoke out against the chicken sludge and the storage tank. County Executive, Bob Culver, said “This is a priority for us…if we lived in your areas we’d be concerned too.” When one NAG member talked about how the delivery of the sludge to the tank would result in unsafe driving conditions and wear and tear on the roads, Mr. Culver appeared to take note of the problem.

A new spotlight was thrown on the uncertainty of what exactly would be in the sludge coming from Valley Protein and how the County and the Department of Agriculture would regulate it.
